Thousands of CSCS Cards Revoked Following CITB Investigation.

Thousands of CSCS cards have been revoked following an extensive investigation by CITB into fraudulent activity at five test centres. A total of 4,615 CSCS cards have now been cancelled as a result of a CITB investigation prompted by a BBC Newsnight report in October last year which identified fraudulent activity taking place during Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Tests.

All affected card holders were offered the opportunity retake their HS&E test free of charge or risk the cancellation of their CSCS card. There is no way of identifying cancelled cards through a visual check and Build UK would advise employers to check the validity of all cards by either electronically reading the CSCS SmartCard or by using “Card Checker” via the CITB website, to make sure that invalid cards are not permitted on site.
