Jervoise School uses a combination of tools to provide their pupils with an engaging curriculum that enhances real life skills and promotes high levels of progress and attainment.
Parquet flooring is found in many schools, but whilst been hard wearing, the need for maintenance can be costly and ongoing. The ever-growing need for Schools to utilise space for multi-purpse use, led Jervois School to choose flooring that is both hard wearing and fit for sports purpose. Jervois School approached Newlay Floors to install a Sports Floor marked out with a bespoke sized Netball Court in their multi-purpose hall.
Preperation
Newlay Floors removed the existing parquet flooring and mechanically diamond ground the old adhesive from the sub floor. This allowed the team to apply an expoxy surface dpm (damp proof membrane) to suppress any rising moisture in the floor.
To get the screed thickness back up to the existing floor level, a self-leveling smoothing underlayment was pumped directly into the hall, greatly reducing the sub floor preparation time.
Floor Covering
Tarkett’s Omnisports is a multi-purpose point elastic vinyl sports surface that has been designed to accommodate a wide range of sporting events. Coming in a wide range of thicknesses and colours, this was the perfect choice to create a contrasting inset court and was entirely fit for purpose.
Finishing
To finish the sports floor, Newlay Foors marked out a bespoke Netball Court to the Omnisports floor covering.
