Safety Flooring Aftercare
Never polish or seal safety flooring where it is used to provide
maximum slip resistance, e.g. in kitchens. Where safety flooring
is not required to provide its maximum slip resistance, it may
be maintained usining 'Altrogloss
211' in a manner similiar to smooth vinyl flooring.
However, such maintenance will reduce the slip resistance in the
areas concerned and it is the responsibility of the building oxner
to access the appropriate level of slip resistance in all cases.

Removing Rubber Heel marks
Rubber heel marks, which sometimes appear on Safety
flooring can be removed with a polypropylene pad or floor abrasive
pad, adding a scouring powder when required.
Scouring powder will help remove many stains, but can also permanently
scratch the floor. If you decide to use it, use only a mild type,
and be very careful about rubbing too much

Cleaners
Avoid excessive use of cleaners
Cleaners should never be mixed
Follow manufacturer's instructions
Always allow cleaning liquid sufficient time to attack grease
before removing.
Always do a test patch before tackling the whole floor.

How to Clean Safety Flooring
- Machine
Vacuum up dust and other debris
Apply Cleaner or equivalent alkaline cleaner and leave for several
minutes
Machine scrub using medium synthetic pads
Wet vacuum residue
Rinse with hot clean water
Wet vacuum
- Manual
Sweep dust and other debris
Apply Cleaner or equivalent alkaline cleaner and leave for several
minutes
Scrub with deck scrubber or mop
Mop up residue in conjunction with twin compartment bucket
Rinse with hot clean water
Mop and allow to dry

Vinyl Maintenance
The frequency of each of the operations is dependent
upon the type and intensity of traffic
Sweep,
mop sweep or dry vacuum to remove dust and loose dirt
Spot
mop frequently. Stubborn black marks can be removed by using
the centre disc of a scrubbing pad and a small amount of undiluted
alkaline cleanser. Place the disc under the sole of the shoe
and rub, this gives greater pressure. Rinse the area well with
clean warm water and leave to dry
Depending upon the end user requirement and the equipment available,
one of the following methods should be used:
Using floor maintainer, diluted to the manufacturer’s instructions,
mop the floor and leave to dry. If a shine is required, the floor
should be buffed with a 500 to 2000 rpm rotary machine fitted
with a suitable pad

or
.................
Using floor maintainer, diluted to the manufacturer’s instructions,
spray a fine mist onto the floor. Using a 165 to 500 rpm rotary
machine and suitable spray cleaning pad, buff the floor to the
desired shine. The dirt is picked up in the pad which should
be thoroughly cleaned after use. Failure to do so will result
in a shiny, dirty floor
.................
or
.................
Using a neutral or germicidal cleanser, diluted to the manufacturer’s
instructions, mop the floor and leave to dry completely. Using
a 500 to 2000 rpm rotary machine, buff the floor to the desired
level of shine
NOTE: When high speed burnishing, it is important that the
machine is kept constantly moving. This avoids excessive heat
build up
on the floor. As an additional precaution, we advise that a
spray of clean water is used to help lubricate the pad

Linoleum Maintenace
Mechanical FloorCare: Spray
method
For most flooring situations the Spray method is recommended,
as it is the most economical. It does, however, require a rotary
machine.
Advantages of the Spray method
The Spray method combines both cleaning and maintenance in one
efficient, mechanical action. Regular use of Forbo Spray and
a rotary machine will keep the surface of Forbo floorings in
optimum condition and prolong the life of the floor. Regular
buffing will further inhibit the adhesion of dirt. With consistent
and regular use of the Spray method, the original satin gloss
is retained, making minor distortions less visible. Due to
the small amount of water used, the Spray method provides a
dry environment.

Carpet Tile Maintenance
Carpet tile floors present
a real challenge in the area of maintenance. It is difficult
to get good results cleaning carpet tiles with hot-water extraction
due to problems in getting excess water removed from the tiles
after the rinsing process. This difficulty is related to the
flowed-on backing, which prevents air from flowing through the
carpet as it would on a tufted broadloom product with a woven-poly
primary backing and an ActionBac secondary backing. Excess moisture
left in the tiles will wick to the surface during drying and
bring much of the residual soil and spots to the surface, causing
an unsatisfactory appearance.
Carpet tiles are often best cleaned using a very-low moisture
method to prevent wicking as much as possible. Proceed carefully
when cleaning carpet tiles if you are using a rotary-type machine.
Systems that use counter-rotating brushes, either rotary or cylindrical,
appear to be the best way to clean carpet tile installations
to prevent problems with tiles moving or corners lifting.

What do you recommend for heavy traffic areas?
We recommend hot seam welding for heavy traffic

What adhesives do i use for different
floor coverings?
Visit http://www.fball.co.uk and
enter the type of flooring you are using, and F.Ball will give
you their recommendations.

Should I use an adhesive remover to remove adhesive residue
from a subfloor before installing a new floor?
Many adhesive removal products contain solvents that leave a
residue within the subfloor. This residue can negatively affect
the new adhesive and bleed through the new floor covering. Floor
covering warranties do not cover instances where existing subfloor
conditions cause damage to the flooring or installation failure
